This year as we gather around the warmth of the holiday spirit, we invite you to join us in making a difference. Secret Santa Appeal was launched by STAR in 2019 as a part of its ongoing commitment to fight the growing problem of social isolation amongst the older Australians.

In 2023, 891 Christmas hampers were delivered to seniors in Redlands, Logan, Ipswich, Darling Downs and Gold Coast.

We extend our gratitude to all the generous donors, volunteers, and supported who made this initiative a resounding success, bringing warmth and cheer to those who needed it most.

A message from Bruce Paige

G’day! Christmas is seen as a time for family, for laughter, eating and joy. Unfortunately, not everyone has loved ones around them at Christmas, which is particularly difficult for the elderly in our community. The increase of depression, loneliness, heart disease and anxiety are only a few of the negative impacts of living in isolation. I invite you to support STAR Community Services and ‘Become a Secret Santa’ to demonstrate to older members of our community that we care. Your gift will mean so much and bring such joy as a STAR volunteer delivers it to a person who may be struggling to cope with being alone on Christmas Day. Let’s come together to show our elderly that we care.

You can help spread holiday cheer in your local community by

1. Drop a gift or non-perishable food items to a participating location (keep an eye on this page for details)

3. Become a volunteer to wrap and deliver hampers

4. If you are a business in Redlands, Logan or Ipswich, you can participate as a drop off point.
