Eighty-two-year-old Mary* needed to attend the hospital every day for four weeks for her cancer treatment. It is scary enough to deal with serious health issues, but doing so on your own can be lonely and distressing. Mary tentatively told STAR that she did not know how she was going to afford getting to the hospital. It was an enormous relief to her that STAR organized transport for her hospital trip at no cost- thanks to the Connection Fund.

Sarah* lives on her own, with no family members close by. STAR was able to assist her by providing a safety device that enables her to push a button and receive help in an emergency. Now, Sarah feels secure knowing that help is just a button away.

Adam* needs regular dialysis at the PA hospital, but he was upset that he couldn’t afford taxis or buses for his treatments. He sadly shared that he had no one to turn to. Thanks to donations to the Connection Fund, STAR was able to drive him to the hospital and home again from his treatments at no cost.
