STAR is looking for volunteers aged 16 years and over in Ipswich for an 8-12 week project with a minimum commitment of 1 hour per week. As a Volunteer Biographer, you will assist elderly clients to write their life story.
We are empowering our clients to share their story and at the end of the project, we will gift them with their very own biography to have their story live on through generations. Seniors have a whole lot of humour, love and wisdom to share, so be prepared for a special journey!
Are you:
- Interested in life stories?
- Passionate about writing?
- A patient listener and enjoy the company of the elderly?
You must be:
- Able to use a computer, Microsoft word and a recording device for the interviews
- Able to commit to 1-2 hour per week sessions with a client for 6-8 weeks. Days and times are flexible
- Have your own computer and printing facilities
High-level spoken and written English and the ability to communicate clearly are essential.
Acceptance into the program is subject to a screening interview, NDIS screening clearance and self-paced online training. Support will be provided.
