Annual Community Celebration

The vibrant community of Redlands comes together each year in May, for an afternoon of festivities, gratitude, and joy at the annual Community Celebration! This much awaited annual event promises a relaxed afternoon brimming with fun activities, laughter, entertainment for all ages and gratitude for the incredible volunteers who make our community thrive.

Admission is absolutely FREE for everyone in the community, ensuring that no one misses out. The event is hosted by STAR Community Services and Volunteering Redlands, and supported by the Redland City Council, marks the start of the annual National Volunteer Week.

In 2024, the event was held on 18 May at Raby Bay Harbour Park. With the sun shining, the perfect weather set the stage for a memorable afternoon filled with joy, gratitude, appreciation and entertainment. Over 30 community organisations, businesses and groups hosted information booths, food stalls, market stalls, coffee carts and raffles- representing the vibrant spirit of volunteering in Redlands. Attendees enjoyed an afternoon packed with live entertainment, including a magic show by Juggling Liam, performances from local musicians and dancers from Redland City Choir, Folk Redlands Band and Here’s to Life as well as Baby Boomer Party Band. Families flocked to the jumping castle, face painting and Old Macdonald’s petting zoo. There was something for everyone with plenty of food options, drinks, market stalls and much more!


Mayor of Redlands City Jos Mitchell addressed the crowd and presented the Volunteer of the Year award to four outstanding volunteers of our community received viz, Sue Goddard of STAR Community Services, Nola McCullagh of Redlands Museum, Jill Watson of Cancer Council Qld, Redlands Volunteer Branch, and Gary Courtenay of Night Ninjas.

As the sun went down, a dazzling laser display by Mr Fireworks delivered an unforgettable experience for captivated crowd, crowning off a celebration of the true heroes of our community.

The event was sponsored by Redland City Council, Alex Gow Funerals, SS Signs, Oldmac Toyota, McGrath Estate Agents, GWH Dental, Fidelity Hearing and Redlands Sporting Club.
