Support At Home Program

The Australian Government is improving in-home aged care to help older people live independently at home for longer.

A new program has been developed called Support at Home, which will bring together some in-home aged care programs from 1 July 2025.

What is the Support at Home Program?

The Support at Home program is a reformed in-home aged care model designed to help older Australians live independently at home for longer.

It replaces:

- Home Care Packages (HCP) and Short-Term Restorative Care(STRC) from July 2025

- Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) no earlier than July 2027.

What services are included?

Older people will receive services based on assessed needs and budget. Support at Home will have 8 ongoing service classifications, each with a budget for you to access services. You can adjust services with your provider as your needs change.

Some of the categories include:

Clinical care: Nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy

Independence support: Showering, dressing, medication help, transport

Everyday living: Cleaning, gardening, shopping, meals
